It's never too early!

Any Hotel ideas? I really liked Amerisuites.......there isn't one downtown- but there is at Opryland that has a shuttle to the airport and a shuttle downtown. I kind of liked the Airport location, though....any suites type hotels downtown?

I favor the Double Tree....it is more costly than out by the airport but one doesn't have to rent a car and if there is an event at opry land area then there is always sharing a cab....I paid $79 for my hotel room....and there are suites but they are more...but if ya share with others..would not be so costly...
I will reserve my room in July to be assured the lower price...and will either stay at the Hilton or the Double Tree...probally will wind up at the Double Tree...I love the walk and it is an easy one to where ever I want to go and then there is always the shuttles for the nightly concerts and a cab to share for out of town things......
Diane and Jim are gonna stay in the same place that they did this year..
That is real convient if ya are going to the nightly concerts...
Where ever one stays...fan fair will be a big time....

Jim and Diane were taking a BIG chance by walking over the bridge to town. This is one of the WORST neighborhoods and the homless live under those bridges. Several tourists have been mugged and stabbed on those bridges. The latest one was about 3 weeks ago. The vehicles are broken into on a nightly basis and it's not unusual to have your gas tank emptied As a Nashville resident, I very highly recommend not staying on the east side of the river by downtown.

Double Tree is better than the Hilton

How did you get a $79 rate at Doubletree? For 2006 it is much higher!

It's a little too early for booking most hotels. I checked a couple of sites and they are not allowing booking for next june yet. AS you know we stayed at 3 hotels this year Amerisuites, Renaissance, & Clubhouse inn. Last year we were at the Holiday inn Express. Each has their merits.
Positives:
Best breakfast and cheapest--Clubhouse Inn & suites
Best location- Renaissance
2nd best location-Holiday Inn Express
Best Room-Amerisuites
Best value-Amerisuites or Holiday Inn express

Negatives:
Amerisuites-location-construction I-40
Renaissance-price-room-value
Holiday Inn Express-none
Clubhouse Inn-location-construction-very basic room.

I checked Doubletree and the lowest price I could find was $139. I think that $79 may be a thing of the past. If you find it again Joyce, let us know where.

DJ of CMNS recommended staying south of town on Highway 65 to avoid construction and get a little better price. There is an Amerisuites in Brentwood. Can't find rate. We're just too early. Most hotels book only 11 months in advance, some less..

I think I would be inclined to book either Amerisuites-Brentwood or Holiday Inn Express-depending on difference in price. We need a car, since we seem to make a lot of runs to get the booth set up, etc. and Holiday Inn Express provides free parking--an advantage over Doubletree & Renaissance. They won't let me book yet & price goes up from $90 to 99 on Friday.
Amerisuites was a little cheaper and I really liked the rooms but we had a great room at Holiday Inn Express too---not a suite though. The difference in price I'm sure we paid in parking fees. Breakfast was about the same.

Right now I'm leaning toward HIE, simply because of location and reasonable price, but I wouldn't be disappointed if we were at Amerisuites, either airport(8 miles from downtown) or Brentwood(10 miles from downtown). If we could get Doubletree at Joyce's 2005 price, that would be really tempting

Now that I have you all and myself totally confused, I think I'll wait til Thursday and see if they'll let me book HIE and go from there.

I suppose I'd be dreaming to think the construction on I-40 might be finished by June 2006??? I thought so!

Love to all
Pat

Pat,

After we left my sister's timeshare (down the street from Opryland Hotel)....I had reserved two rooms at the Amerisuites/opryland. (It is right across the street from Opryland Hotel/behind the IFCO Shindig location.)
Just to give a cost comparison...EACH room with TWO people was $109 the first night and $99 the second night.
I don't know if it is closer to downtown than the Amerisuites/Brentwood...but it was fairly easy travel.

I don't think Nashville will ever be done with construction...so we just roll the dice and pray for a safe journey.

Well, I really liked the AmerSuites at the airport. I'm not even sure that the Opryland location is closer.

Ask my roomie! I think we liked what we had for the price. Taxes and all, it came to $80 a night. Since I was there for 6 nights, I liked the price. As Pat said, the rooms were great. And, the construction wasn't that much of a big deal. Ask Donna B, she did the driving. There is that: you'd have to have a car.

But, with my medical issues, I can't walk for miles like Joyce, so I like taking a car! LOL!

Just my 2 cents worth!

I lived in Nashville now for 11 years almost 12. It was under construction when I moved here, and it's still under construction. Gaylord threw such a fit demanding Briley Parkway be widened that the contruction crews worked 24 hours 7 days for 1 1/2 years. Then the park was sold and DOT has been dragging their feet ever since with the construction at Opryland. I personally think it will be another 5-6 years before they finish it.

There is a free concert on 11/12/05 in Dallas.

It is at the Dallas Farmers Market (1010 S. Pearl St., Dallas TX) 1p.m.-3p.m.

I am so excited to see him in Dallas!

Welcome Dallas! Are you going to the show? It should be a good one. Sure wish I was in Texas so I could go. Please come back after the show and tell us all about it! Again...welcome to the board.... :D
